Thyroid cancerThyroid cancer happens when cells in your thyroid gland grow abnormally and out of control. The cancer cells can spread to other parts of your body. The thyroid gland is located in your neck. It makes hormones that control the way your body uses energy and that help your body work normally. Treatment depends on the specific type of thyroid cancer and whether it has spread to other parts of the body.
